Interior

The cabin of the Cayenne is loosely based on the cockpit of the Panamera, another offering by Porsche. The materials used inside the cabin are soft, refined plastics and leather. The windscreen pillars are narrow, giving you wide and clear vision and making it easier to take sharp turns.

The rear pillars are thick, though. Thankfully, there are parking sensors and cameras all around to assist you in parking or negotiating tight curves or corners. All Cayenne variants come with a high-definition giant 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The graphics are crisp and sharp.

All your navigation and entertainment system options are available here. At first, it can be a little challenging browsing through a web of menus and sub-menus, but it's highly customizable, and you can integrate the important functions onto the home screen.

A voice control option is also provided. Bluetooth, sat-nav, and DAB radio are standard in all the trims. You can also connect your smartphone via Apple CarPlay, but there is no Android Auto integration.

Behind the steering wheel is the Porsche’s typical five-dial instrument cluster. Just under the screen and surrounding the gear lever is a glassy panel. Here again, icons are provided for touch instead of the regular knobs or buttons.

There is plenty of room inside the Cayenne for all the passengers. The rear passengers also get ample legroom and headroom. The rear seats can be slid forward and backward as well. The doors have large side pockets to accommodate your stuff.

The center console has ample storage too. The boot is spacious enough to accommodate all your luggage on a family excursion. It is squarish in shape and an improvement of 100 liters from its predecessor, which is pretty good.

Performance

The Cayenne makes use of compact but powerful engines.

All petrol engines have a 3.0-liter, V6, turbocharged configuration with an ability to churn 335 hp and 332 pound-feet of torque.

Then comes a 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine with 434hp.

Lastly, we have the Turbo, a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo with 542hp.

There’s also a 456hp V6 hybrid. The 8-speed automatic gear transmission is standard in all variants. The Cayenne is fun to drive. It is also fast, as its maker started as a sports car manufacturer.

All Cayenne models can go from 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds. For an SUV, this speed seems almost crazy. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The steering is very responsive to your touch. It is one of the best SUVs when it comes to handling.
